The TP-Link Deco E4 is an affordable dual-band Mesh Wi-Fi system designed to provide stable wireless coverage throughout your home. The Deco system combines the units into a single Wi-Fi network with a single network name, and devices automatically connect to the most suitable unit as you move around your home. The 3-pack version is designed to provide coverage of up to approximately 4,000 ft² or 372 m², depending on the layout and conditions.

The Deco E4 uses Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and achieves a combined speed of up to AC1200, or 867 Mb/s at 5 GHz and 300 Mb/s at 2.4 GHz. MU-MIMO support enables more efficient communication with multiple devices simultaneously, and the system is designed for networks with up to 100 connected devices. The units can be connected to each other wirelessly or via an Ethernet backhaul, which enables an even more stable connection between Deco units.

The Deco E4 can function as a router or an access point, so it can also be integrated into an existing network. Setup and management are handled through the Deco app, which allows you to view connected devices, manage the network remotely, prioritize devices, set up a guest network, and check connection speeds. Voice control via Amazon Alexa is also supported.

For family use , parental controls, user profiles, time limits, and web content filtering are available. The system also supports WPA/WPA2 security, an SPI firewall, per-device QoS, and IPv4/IPv6.

From a commercial standpoint , the Deco E4 is primarily an entry-level Mesh system for users who want to easily solve Wi-Fi coverage issues without complex configuration. Its main strengths are easy setup and a unified network with seamless switching between units. However, it’s important to note that it only has 10/100-Mb/s Ethernet ports, so today it makes the most sense as an affordable solution for basic home internet and not for users with very fast gigabit local connections.
